We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with applicable data protection laws including the General Data Protection Regulation, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and Apple App Store Guidelines.

What This Policy Covers

This policy explains what data we collect and why, how we use your data, how we share your data and with whom, how we store and protect your data, how long we keep your data, how you can access, modify, and delete your data, and your privacy rights.

Data We Collect

User content such as notes, drawings, ink strokes, PDFs, images, flashcards, audio recordings, and study materials.
AI conversations and prompts.

Device type, model, operating system version, and app version for debugging.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data to provide core app functionality, render ink and handwriting on device, synchronize data across devices when cloud sync is enabled, process AI features, verify subscriptions, prevent fraud, improve the app through anonymized diagnostics if you opt in, and respond to support requests.

We never use your data for advertising, selling to third parties, cross service tracking, or training AI models on your personal content.

How We Share Your Data

We do not sell your data. We share information only with service providers necessary to operate the app, including Apple for subscriptions and authentication, Firebase for authentication and fraud prevention, Amazon Web Services for storage, Railway for database hosting, Cloudflare for edge security, Sentry for crash reporting if enabled, and OpenAI for AI features through a secure backend proxy.

AI Features and Your Content

Certain processing occurs on device, including text to speech, ink rendering, and handwriting recognition. Some features require secure cloud processing through our backend, such as voice transcription, AI chat, summaries, and advanced document processing.

We do not store OpenAI API keys on your device. OpenAI does not use API data to train models. Transcription audio is deleted after processing.

Data Storage and Location

Notes and study materials are stored locally on your device using an embedded database. When cloud sync is enabled, data is stored in the United States and encrypted in transit and at rest. Sync uses conflict free merge technology to prevent data loss.

Data Security

We use encryption in transit and at rest, device level security protections, keychain encryption for sensitive credentials, fraud prevention measures, API security controls, least privilege access controls, and secure authentication systems.

Data Access and Deletion

You can view and edit your content within the app. You can export your data in standard formats. You can delete individual items or your entire account through the app or by contacting us. Cloud data is permanently deleted within thirty days of account deletion.

Data Retention

User content is retained until you delete it. Account information is retained while active. Diagnostic and analytics data are retained for limited periods. Temporary files are deleted within twenty four hours.

Opt Out Mechanisms

You can disable analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, cloud sync, and AI features in settings.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, object to processing, withdraw consent, and receive non discriminatory treatment. We respond to formal privacy requests within thirty days as required by law.

Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen without parental consent. Parents or guardians may contact us to request deletion.

International Data Transfers

Our services are hosted in the United States. We rely on appropriate safeguards and data processing agreements with providers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated through the app and posted online. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

ePrescience Terms of Use

Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using ePrescience, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of revised Terms.

Apple Developer Agreement Compliance

The app is distributed through Apple’s App Store. Your use is also subject to Apple’s End User License Agreement, App Store Terms, and Apple Privacy Policy. If a conflict exists regarding subscription services, Apple’s agreement governs those features.

Service Description

ePrescience provides note taking, PDF annotation, handwriting, flashcards, voice transcription, text to speech, AI tutoring through Paaru, document scanning, cloud sync, and academic planning tools.

Accounts and Eligibility

You must be at least thirteen years old to use the app. You must provide accurate account information and maintain credential security. We may suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

Subscriptions and Purchases

Subscriptions are billed through Apple. Pricing is displayed before purchase. Subscriptions auto renew unless canceled. Refunds are handled by Apple. Premium features unlock additional capabilities and storage. Free trials, if offered, convert automatically unless canceled.

Acceptable Use

You may not use the app for illegal activities, harmful or abusive content, AI misuse, impersonation, technical abuse such as hacking or reverse engineering, or competitive harm. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.

Your Content

You retain ownership of your content. You grant us a limited license to store, sync, process, and display your content to provide app functionality. This license ends when you delete your content or account. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to upload content.

AI Features and Limitations

AI generated content may contain inaccuracies, outdated information, or bias. You should verify important information and not rely solely on AI for academic, legal, medical, financial, or professional decisions. AI features are study aids and not professional advice.

Beta Features

Beta features may be unstable and provided as is. They may change or be removed at any time.

Privacy

Your use of the app is governed by our Privacy Policy.

Intellectual Property

The app, its design, features, code, trademarks, and documentation are owned by VerbaLearn LLC doing business as ePrescience. You are granted a limited, non transferable license for personal use. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works.

Disclaimers

The app is provided as is and as available without warranties of any kind, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted service.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of data, loss of profits, or damages resulting from unauthorized access. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising from your use of the app, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

Termination

You may stop using the app at any time. You may delete your account through the app. We may suspend or terminate access for violations.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Disputes shall be resolved in courts located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

General Provisions

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Apple’s agreements, constitute the entire agreement. If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder remains in effect.
